A couple of New Year “Would you Rathers”

Would you rather have to spend the week after the New Year dressed up as the Baby New Year or Father Time?

Would you rather spend New Year’s Day in a home with no Internet or a home without indoor plumbing?

3 Reasons to Be Optimistic about Real Estate in 2021

…CON’T

1. The Economy Is Expected to Continue Improving

Tim Duy from the University of Oregon puts it this way:

“There is nothing fundamentally ‘broken’ in the economy that needs to heal…there was no obvious financial bubble driving excessive activity in any one economic sector when the pandemic hit…With Covid-19 cases surging again, it is understandably hard to look optimistically to the other side of this winter…Don’t let the near-term challenges distract from the economic stage being set for next four years.”

2. Interest Rates Are Projected to Stay Low

In the latest projections from Freddie Mac, interest rates for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage are expected to remain at or near 3% next year. These low rates will continue to make homes more affordable, driving demand for housing in 2021.

3. Future Home Sales Are Forecasted to Grow

While the economy improves and interest rates remain low, homes are also expected to continue appreciating as more people buy in the coming year. Danielle Hale, Chief Economist at realtor.comsays:

“We expect home sales in 2021 to come in 7.0% above 2020 levels, following a more normal seasonal trend and building momentum through the spring and sustaining the pace in the second half of the year.”

Bottom Line

Experts forecast that buyers and sellers are going to be active in 2021. 7 interior-design trends that will start to disappear in 2021, and 8 you'll see everywhere …CON’T

Life in quarantine has allowed us to begin the process of making our homes—no matter how sprawling or sparse—a more functional, beautiful place that reflects our own histories, experiences, and design aesthetics. We’re crossing our fingers that, at least in the latter half of the year, we will be living in a post-pandemic world, but that won’t mean COVID will lose its impact on the way we live, dream, and design.   For more on these new trends, please click on the link.

National Blood Donor Month

We need your help. January is more than just a cold, winter month. It’s a month of new beginnings, resolutions and goals. Resolve to donate blood and give the gift of life to people receiving chemotherapy, undergoing heart surgery, fighting Sickle Cell Disease and recovering from trauma. The need for blood donations is constant and your donation is important for maintaining a healthy and reliable blood supply.  Blood donations typically drop off during and immediately after the winter holidays. The Red Cross needs to collect more than 13,000 donations every day to keep the blood supply ready and available to meet the needs of about 2,600 hospitals, clinics and cancer centers across the country. They rely on voluntary blood donors. For this reason, January is a critical time for blood donations. Take it a step further and encourage your network of friends and family to help and donate!

Why is Donating Blood Important?

  • There is no substitute for blood.
  • We need at least 1,000 units of blood and about 200 platelet donors per month to help people.
  • “Fresh” blood is always needed for our infant patients.
  • Type O blood is the universal blood donor, but we encourage all blood type donors.

Compliment Day

YEAH!! Compliment Day is on January 24! It’s a great opportunity to say something positive about the people you come into contact with. Everyone has good attributes. ...that's right....... everyone.

·         It’s a cinch to find compliments for family and loved ones

  • Friends are friends because you see something good about them. Here's an easy compliment to a friend: "Wow, you're very intelligent...you choose your friends wisely".
  • It's more challenging to compliment your boss or people you don't like. Take up the challenge and find a compliment for them today, too.

Remember: Mama said  "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything". After a long search for something good, if you just can't find a compliment for them, then silence is golden.

Compliment Day is celebrated by offering sincere compliments to people you know. It is important that you are sincere. People will see right through insincerity, and you will do more harm than good.  How many compliments should you give out today? The common suggestion is five compliments. Yes, they should be to five different people.
